Officiant for Hamilton Weddings

Welcome to the city of waterfalls! Hamilton, a city once known as Steeltown and “The Hammer”, has experienced a revival and an increasing number of Ontarians (and Torontonians) are taking it in!

Artists have moved in. Fabulous restaurants, galleries and media companies keep opening up – and let’s return to those waterfalls shall we? Especially if we’re talking about some of the most picturesque places for some precious wedding photos!.

Of course there is more to Hamilton’s beauty for ceremonial purposes than waterfalls. Here is one site that has a wealth of resources (though my understanding is that they removed the officiant list because of some controversy around unlicensed officiants operating). Here you will find information about wonderful indoor and outdoor venues available such as the beautiful and conveniently located Coach House at Dundurn or Fieldcote Memorial Park, Whitehern Historic House and Garden or Battlefield Park to name a few. Here is another list of some of Hamilton’s gorgeous parks, gardens (the Royal Botanical Gardens being but one example) and other sites. Click here for permitting information.

The fabulous thing about Hamilton is that it is equal distance to Toronto and Niagara Wine country — making it easier for guests (and officiants) to travel. It is easy and very quick to get around and is right off the highway. Hamilton has its own airport but it is also closer to the American border which makes it easier for guests located in the U.S. to come and go via Buffalo, which also has a couple of airports.

Hamilton is a city with some beautiful architecture for the city types but it is also just minutes away from Dundas and Ancaster (as one city since amalgamation many years ago now). Both Dundas and Ancaster offer gorgeous, classic small town and country settings that you can also choose from when thinking about location.

The benefits here? You can choose a country setting for instance with all the amenities of a medium sized city (Hamilton) without the costs or traffic jams you find in Toronto. This City of Hamilton site might also help you find a location that feels right and true to your values and style. On a final note, it is important to remember that the most important thing about a wedding is having loved ones nearby for care and support. While this can take place in a public venue, those meaningful memories are just as easily created with ceremonies at a private home or in a backyard or garden.
